Finland has a travelling problem

Finland has a travelling problem. You can hardly even get out of the country without causing considerable carbon damage. Everyone knows that flying produces emissions, but ferry travel is far from ecological as well. In fact, the ferocious carbon footprint of ships has apparently come as a bit of a surprise to many of us. The problem is certainly influenced by the fact that cruises are major business. But the ships also carry cargo, which makes it difficult to assess emission per traveller. From Finland, travelling abroad by land is not easy, although there are improvements on the way. An electric train would easily be the most ecological option, but Rail Baltica isn't likely to be completed before 2026. So what to do? IKITOMU's IKItravel section explores the possibilities of greener travelling. Welcome aboard!
